Singing Mugabe’s praises and comparing to him to the Biblical David, Destiny for Africa Network founder Obadiah Musindo distributed 1,200 residential stands to ZANU PF supporters only in Mutare. His speech at the project launch was said to be full of references to the next election.
“How many of you are ready to vote for ZANU PF? Every one of you should bring at least five people to vote for ZANU PF in the next elections and make sure that we win,” Musindo was quoted as saying.
MDC-T spokesman for Manicaland, Pishai Muchauraya, told SW Radio Africa Musindo also told the beneficiaries use their new house addresses from the stands when they vote in the next elections.
Muchauraya dismissed the project as an attempt to buy support from urban residents who abandoned Mugabe and his party in the 2008 poll. Mutare is in Manicaland Province, where ZANU PF lost lost 20 out of 26 constituencies to the MDC-T in that last election.
“Most ZANU PF big shots lost to MDC-T candidates in Manicaland. This is where Patrick Chinamasa and Oppah Muchinguri were defeated. So they are trying to get back those seats. But people here will never vote ZANU PF again. They know all the tricks used on them last time around,” Muchauraya said.
The feisty MDC-T provincial spokesman also pointed to the continued hijacking of the government’s grain loan scheme by ZANU PF officials in rural areas of Manicaland. He said poor villagers are being denied grain that could save their lives because they support the MDC.
Muchauraya also said he had received some sad news Monday. Senator Josiah Mukairindi from Chipinge had died at the age of 73. He had suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure and was being treated at Murambi Gardens Clinic. According to Muchauraya the Senator left 8 children and 11 grandchildren. Arrangements for his burial have not yet been made. SW Radio Africa

We have seen again and again Mugabe and his Zanu PF supporters abuse their position to punish their political opponents and critics be it in the distribution of resources, as is the case here, administration of justice with arrest of the opponents and worse by allowing the party’s thugs to intimidate, beat and even murder innocent people. The people of Zimbabwe turned to MDC in the hope that they will put an end to all this madness and bring meaningful democratic change. Sadly all the nation has heard from MDC is platitudes of condemnations and nothing else.
Pisayi Muchauraya’s face and voice as the MDC-T spokesman for Manicaland is a familiar one on SW Radio Africa and these pages. He is the one reporting the Zanu PF abuses and dishing out the empty promises to do something to stop them.
Now we know why MDC has done nothing to end this Zanu PF reign of terror; as long as MDC believes that the people, come the elections, will still vote for them regardless of all the suffering and misery Zanu PF bring on the nation MDC will do nothing to stop the lawlessness! In other words what MDC cares about is power, the promise to bring democratic change was only the bait with which to catch the people’s vote. Just like Zanu PF; they used the promise of freedom and liberty to mobilize the nation in the fight against the white colonialists; 32 years after independence the people are yet to taste freedom and liberty. Zanu PF is reportedly now fighting neoimperialists and their surrogate puppets who want to reverse the liberation struggle and are threatening the nation’s sovereignty.
A good fisherman does not undermine the effectiveness of his bait by stuffing the fish beforehand! As long as the Zimbabweans people fail to hold their leaders to account they will continued to be treated like fish and their basic needs of freedom, liberty and human dignity are nothing but the bait the politicians use to catch the vote!
