Club management is reportedly unhappy with the team’s performance, with sources recently revealing that Moses Chunga and former Caps United midfielder and mentor, Lloyd Chitembwe, were being thrown around as possible replacements.
The rumours were even made stronger by Chitembwe’s presence during the Rufaro debacle. Other unconfirmed reports are that the cash-rich side had tried to poach Highlanders’ Kevin Kaindu, who turned them down, saying he was very happy at Bosso.
Chikuni replaced Rahman Gumbo, who was ironically also sacked after a string of poor results. The new coach has also found the going tough, with his team gradually slipping to the lower half of the table, despite having been considered to be one of the pre-season candidates for the championship.
FC Platinum lie seventh on the log with 38 points from 25 games and remain safe from relegation.
