Led by Pastor Takayendesa, the church delegation handed over the donation comprised of 20 blankets, 20 pairs of sheets, four pillows, water buckets, water mops, sweeping brooms, food hampers for expectant mothers at the clinic and vulnerable members of the community.
The Masikana donation is the third leg of the church’s humanitarian initiative, aimed at helping government resuscitate the country’s medical service delivery system. “Some clinics in Harare and Nyamahubogo clinic in Mount Darwin have benefitted from the church’s generosity. The initiative was made to complement government efforts to sustain the country’s health delivery system,” said Pastor Takayendesa. Councillor ward 19, Samuel Machekanyanga, commended the church for its goodwill, noting that the donation was in line with other church activities such as fostering peace among communities, keeping family and social structures intact and being an agent of development.
Chief Lovemore Zenda Svosve commended the church for the donation. Like other government funded rural hospitals, Masikana Clinic operates without basic requirements such as lighting, bedding, clothing and feeding facilities, let alone crucial medical equipment. The clinic provides services such as baby delivery for the estimated 7,000 women in the area.
