Matemavi now Fidemaster

Tatenda Matemavi of Prince Edward School,Harare came out tops in the under 18 boys age group.He finished with 6 points out of 9 games.

He won 5 games ,drew 2 and lost 2.In one of his most prized career wins he beat Matt Pon of South Africa in the final roun of the tourney in a game he played an English opening which had an end game with a pair of Bishops and pawns Versus a Knight and a Bishop and some pawns.

Most people had predicted his loss and he shocked them when Matt Pon came out shooking his head.Refiloe Mudodo came third in the under 8 girls category.Takunda Mudzingwa and Sifiso Ncubehad 4,5 points in the under 14 category.

Tashinga Maguwu had the same points in the under 10 boys category.Mpumelelo had 4 points failing to finish his last game due to illness.Victor Chimbamu the junior team coach was very elated for producing an FM.
