Assassin up for ZIMMA award

UK-based Hip Hop sensation Rhythm Assassin’s star continues to rise. He has been nominated for a Zimbabwe Music and Arts Awards, to be awarded to Zimbabweans in the diaspora next weekend in the UK.

Assassin, whose real name is Tichaona Monera, will be vying for the male artist of the year award against music luminaries like Decibel, Bkay and Kazz. The former Howard High student is currently riding high with singles Black Hope and Amai featuring Trevor Dongo.

“Being nominated shows the people have heard my music and winning will be a bonus,” he told The Zimbabwean. Born in 1981, Rhyme Assassin spent the early years of his life in Highfield, where he started writing songs and performing at high schools gigs. Between 1999 and 2001 he made some significant progress on the music scene featuring in various contests, before leaving for the UK.
