Businessman defrauds homeseekers

A local businessman, Ephraim Musosi has been dragged before the courts facing charges of fraud involving $10,000.

Prosecutor Salom Maunganidze said in February last year, Musosi informed Nyikadzino Chigodo of Amaveni surbub that he was selling a housing stand inMbizo.

Chigodo then paid $3 000 for the purchase and a further $1 400 for council rates. It was only after a memorandum of understanding had been signed that Chigodo realised he had been duped. The stand, in fact, belonged to the city council.

In another matter, the businessman who owns a shopping complex known as Zunde Ramambo, allegedly sold another stand to Richard Ziganiso and collected $2,000. Ziganiso later discovered that the residential stand had been earlier sold by the accused to somebody else.

The businessman is denying the charges. Magistrate Tendai Manwere postponed the matter to next week for trial.
