Mutuma scored the goals in the 65th and 73rd minutes, with Soccer Star of the Year favourite, Denver Mukamba and former Caps United striker,Simba Sithole being the chief architects.
The match was also flavored by a Pamushana High School connection in both teams with Artwell Mukandi in goals for Monomotapa while Simba Sithole was leading the Dembare attack.
Sithole was later substituted, though, for struggling to find a way past Mukandi.
Mukandi and Sithole were in the same team at Pamushana High School in Masvingo which has gained notable fame for high level soccer products, winning the Coca Cola NASH tournament in 2008.
Dynamos could have won the match by a wider margin had their strikers not been wasteful, with Martin Vengesai and Denver Mukamba being the main culprits.
Monoz chief mark man, Ronald Chitiyo, was substituted in the second half for succumbing to the relentless marking of Tawanda Muparati.
Midfielder, Arthur Kaseloki, got a rare feel of the game as he came in for the otherwise impressive Simba Sithole, but only for a few minutes before the death of the game.
Dynamos head coach, Calisto Pasuwa said the team had played well and deserved to win the cup as they had done their homework well.
Pasuwa drew lessons from the two teams’ earlier encounter.
“We assigned Muparati to monitor Chitiyo because, in our last match, he caused all sorts of problems to our defence,” said Pasuwa.
For his Monomotapa counterpart, Biggie Zuze, it was a bad day in the office for his relatively young team and, it was still a learning curve for them.
“The boys could have done well had they not succumbed to stage fright.
This is their first major cup final, so the crowd in a way contributed to our fate. We will continue encouraging the boys as they have a great future,” he said.
The Glamour Boys last won a double—the championship and a knockout tournament—in 1986 and, after this victory, coach Calisto Pasuwa adds his name to a list of great Dynamos achievers such as Sunday Chidzambwa.
DeMbare, for long having been dogged by boardroom squabbles, appears to have found the winning formula and look set to bulldoze over every opponent next season again.
For winning the cup, Dynamos received a floating trophy, $100,000 and $150 000 for the CAF Confederations Cup.
