ZRP Harare Province spokesperson, Inspector Tadius Chibanda, confirmed that Munashe Museve of Komboni Yatsva in Epworth died on December 26, 2012 owing to injuries sustained during the unfortunate incident.
“A 14-year-old boy kicked the deceased in the stomach while playing. The boy later complained of stomach pains,” said Chibanda. “Family members took the child to Westend Hospital where he later died.”
The deceased has since been buried and the 14-year-old boy has since been released into his parents’ custody.
“The police are lodging murder charges against the boy but will consult the Attorney General’s office and other relevant juvenile stakeholders first,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from Munashe’s mother were futile, however, neighbours said she did not have any hard feelings against the youth responsible because she knew the boys were just playing.
