Reports coming from South Africa are that Mukamba passed his medicals on Thursday morning and joins two other Zimbabweans, Thomas Sweswe and Tinashe Nengomasha, who are already at the South African club.
Mukamba has been a long term target of the Students, as Bidvest Wits is also known, having first gone for trials when Wits were under the guidance of Roger de Sa before attracting the attention of Lopez Habas in a memorable year in the blue and white Dynamos jersey.
Although Habas has since left and has been replaced by South Africa’s 1996 Nations Cup winning coach Clive Barker, the latter has also been impressed by Mukamba and what is now left is for the midfielder to command a first team jersey at the club.
At the moment, Wits are in ninth position in the 16 team top flight league with 19 points from 16 games, just above Mamelodi Sundowns who have 18 points.
The Students want to bolster their squad to avoid dropping to division one. At the top of the table are Kaiser Chiefs with 35 points from the same number of games while at the bottom are Amazulu with 12 points.
Mukamba was in top form during the 2012 soccer season in which he helped Dembare win the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title as well as the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
He won both the Castle Soccer Star of the Year as well as the Dynamos Player of the Year awards.
Mukamba becomes the second Dynamos player in two years running to relocate to South Africa after winning the soccer star of the year award.
He follows on the heels of goalkeeper Washington Arubi who won the top individual award in 2011 and went on to join Pretoria University in South Africa last year.
Although he has been in and out of the Warriors squad and in most cases coming as a substitute, at 20, Mukamba is being looked at as a vital cog in the future Zimbabwe Warriors set up.
