Renco is currently producing only
30 kg of gold a day and has been negatively affected by workers’ industrial action over poor salaries.
The take over has seen Tourism and Hospitality Minister Walter
Mzembi and MDC-T Masvingo provincial spokesman Harrison Mudzuri
clashing publicly over problems at the mine.
Mudzuri feels that the problems are between the
workers and the management and has called on all politicians to stay out of it. “Mzembi should not be anywhere near this problem,” said Mudzuri.
However, Mzembi has threatened to take legal action
against Mudzuri for tarnishing his name.
“I am the MP of the area and therefore have a mandate to solve
problems under my jurisdiction,” said Mzembi.

“To say that I have political interest amounts to tarnishing my name
and I will take him to the cleaners.”
It has emerged that Zanu (PF) bigwigs have since moved in to
take control of the mine.

Zanu (PF) Chivi
South legislator Irwin Dzingirayi and Mzembi himself are said to have moved in.
“We are now in full
control of the mine and as I speak it’s now ours,” said Dzingirayi.
