Youths unite against dictatorship

The Zimbabwe Youth Forum recently co-hosted a Youth Indaba with the Swaziland National Union of Students aimed at creating a platform through which youths can exchange experiences and support each other in the fight against repressive regimes.

“Just like Zimbabweans, young people in Swaziland are reeling under very undemocratic regimes which have condemned them to penury,” said ZYF National Coordinator, Wellington Zindove.

Delegates agreed to ratchet up ressure on SADC to ensure free and representative elections in Swaziland and Zimbabwe as part of the broader agenda by the youth to work towards a democratic Southern African region, he added.

The seminar was coordinated by Afrika Kontakt, a Danish non-governmental organisation famed for its support of the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa.

“The themes of participation, mobilization and inclusion were at the core of the seminar, with debates on how to increase the number of young people who are aware and actively involved in our struggles,” said Zindove.
