Sibanda moves on

Zimbabwean striker, Oscar Sibanda, has ditched Galway United for Mervue United in the Irish second-tier league. The player spent some time out injured, but revealed this week that he was back playing again.

“I am happy to have recovered because I had thought the injury to the end of my career. I had broken my ankle in two different places,” he said. “I recently played 45 minutes in a friendly match and the coach was impressed with my performance. I want to repay the club for showing faith in me.”

Sibanda still dreams of donning the national team jersey. “I am happy that the new Warriors technical team has cast its eyes wider and looks ready to give everyone a chance. I have gained a lot of experience since I turned professional and I ready to represent my country. I have refused to play for Ireland because I remain Zimbabwean at heart.”
