No police officers at polling stations in Hurungwe

By 10 O’clock in the morning today, there were no police officers deployed at numerous polling stations in Hurungwe West to provide security.

It was not immediately clear why the police had failed to supply the polling centres with details as required by the law.

The Hurungwe municipality which was charged with transporting officials to man polling stations was also facing logistical problems as it has a depleted fleet of cars.

The Zimbabwean could not ascertain this morning if all polling stations, particularly those in remote areas, were adequately manned.

Constituency Member of Parliament, Severino Chambati, acknowledged that the municipality was facing challenges transporting personnel to man the polling stations.
