While all the political parties in the Government of National Unity were advocating for a ‘YES’ vote, individual political parties had their own campaign material.
MDC-T Bikita west spokesman, Cleophas Jaricha, told The Zimbabwean that state security agents seized and confiscated party campaign material.
“Members of the CIO followed us everywhere,” he said, adding that the operatives ordered them to stop distributing party material.
Police in Masvingo could not comment on the incident, arguing that no report had been made on the matter. Meanwhile, villagers in the constituency said they were force marched to polling stations by suspected war veterans and youths. “We just went and voted YES because we were afraid,” said a villager who preferred not to be named.
