The fair is organised by the Zimbabwe International Book Fair whose Executive Board chairperson, Musaemura Zimunya, has introduced a new event called the Bulawayo Literary Evening.
“Apart from the usual Bulawayo Book Fair programme of live literature, writers’ workshops and the children’s reading tent, this year we are also introducing the Bulawayo Literary Evening. This event is basically a celebration of Bulawayo’s rich art,” said Zimunya.
The veteran author said organisers of the event had invited the police to share with the public on how to address piracy. Other presentations will focus on issues such as the role of languages in the identity of a people, the impact of electronic media on children‘s reading culture and marketing strategies for authors.
The theme for this year is ZIBF @30: Enabling Creativity, Writing, Publishing and Reading for Africa’s Growth. The organisation turns 30 this year.
The fair returned to Bulawayo last year, following its suspension for the past four years due to the economic crisis.
