He defeated Taringana Guranungo of St.Georges in the final round in a blitz ending. Romeo Chihama of Mufakose 2 High came a close second with 3,5 points out of 4 rounds of play. Tafadzwa Zvidzai of ZRP boarding School came third while Prince Magwara of Mufakose 2 High school came 4th. He was tied on the same position with Jeremiah Jekera of Mabvuku High School.
In the under 18 girls category Paidaishe Zengeni came first with 4,5 points out of 5 games of play. She drew her last game against Tariro Mwendamberi of St.Johns Emerald Hill School. Both are from the same school.
In the under 16 boys category Trevor Macheka of Mabvuku High School won the section with a perfect score of 4 out 4 games of play. Donald Chiwundura of St.Johns High School was also on 4 points ,but he was second on bucholtz. Brian Shokoni of Mabvuku and Tapiwa Chikwavaire were tied on third position after drawing their last game which ended in a blitz photo finish.
A record 50 participants took part in the under 16 boys section. Even the competition in this category was the stiffest. Munashe Keche of Kuwadzana 1 High was the surprise winner in the under 14 boys category he defeated Takunda Mudzingwa the favourite in this category displacing him to second position.
Leeroy Mutukwa of Mabvuku High came third on bucholtz after he was tied on the same position with Takunda Mudzingwa. Best Magobeya of Mufakose 2 High came 4th player in this category. Diana Manzura of Roosevelt came first in the under 14 category in second place was Simbisai Mapako of Dominican Convent. Chipo Marongedze of Hrare High school came third while Rumbidzai Mudavanhu of Glen View 2 High School came 4th.
