13 Zimbos die in a fatal accident

13 Zimbabweans this morning lost their lives in a road accident in Limpopo involving a truck and mini bus taxi on the N1 near the Baobab Toll Plaza.

South African police spokesperson Ronel Otto confirmed that, "Out of the 13 deceased seven are males and five are females. No children were involved and we are also following up on information that all the people who died are from Zimbabwe. They were on their way from Pretoria to Zimbabwe when the accident happened."

12 people died on the scene while one of the injured died in hospital with six others still seriously injured. This accident happened during International Road Safety Week, being celebrated by South Africa.

South Africa has one of the highest road death tolls in the world. At least 1,207 people were killed on the country's roads during the festive season.
