Tripple B sack Friday Phiri

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League club Tripple B have fired coach Friday Phiri following a string poor results. The decision was taken by the club leadership Wednesday a day before the 2012 southern region first division champions were scheduled to play Caps United at home Thursday.

Phiri has been replaced by his assistant Peter Manoti who is taking charge of his first game against the wounded Green Machine who last Sunday lost the Harare derby 1-0 to Dynamos.

Tripple B secretary general Gibson Makanda confirmed they have parted ways with Phiri saying they were not happy with the team's results. He said two wins in 10 matches is not a good record for a coach adding that they would like to avoid relegation when there is still time.

Makanda claims they have the players capable of avoiding the chop but what has been lacking has been the technical aspect of the game saying they hope Manoti will change the direction of the results.

Tripple B are bottom of the 16 team Premiership with only six points from a possible maximum of 30 and are three points behind their nearest rivals Black Rhinos who on their part have also parted ways with coach Nesbert Saruchera who has been replaced by Arthur Tutani.

Both Phiri and Saruchera guided their teams into the Premiership.

Tripple B are hoping to avoid the tragedy of teams that get promotion this year and are relegated the next year as happened to Quelaton and Hardbody last season.

Four teams get automatic relegation from the Pemiership and are replaced by four team that win the four first division leagues that make up Zimbabwean football. There is the northern, southern, eastern and central regions who all have first division leagues.

The chairmen of the four regions also seat on the Zifa board, the supreme football body in the country.
