My Best Team

The Old Miltonians side that was led by Davie Houghton in 1992.

My Best teammate

This is a tough one because all the guys I played with always contributed overwhelmingly in each and every match we played. My Old Miltonians buddies were fantastic, but I won’t forget those from Queens and Bulawayo Sports Club.

My Best Save

The most memorable one was my first test match against India. It wasn’t a save but a match that I believe I really commanded. We stuck to a game plan, out battled and out played or opponents. It ended in a draw, but we had Indians with their backs against the wall. I recall Kevin Arnott struck a fine century in that game too.

My Best coach

I will give credit to all the coaches I played under throughout my career, as they each gave me an opportunity to play.

My Best Season

The best season of all was when I was selected to play for the Test Team in 1992. That same season, I was selected on many occasions to represent the Zimbabwe A Team, prior to being selected for the Test Team. Those were indeed great moments in my career. Also, playing for Matabeleland, where I had a successful season.

My Best ever Zimbabwean Players

Davie Houghton, John Traicos, Derek and Trevor Townsend, Brian Barbour, Kish Desai, Lawrence De Grandhomme, Wayne James, Guy Whittal, Kevin Brunt, Mark Dekker, Davie Houghton, Eddo Brandes, Henry Olonga, Andy and Grant Flower were super during my playing days, but currently, there is Vusi Sibanda and Wellie Masakadza, who are pretty exciting with the bat and have lots of power. Not forgetting the fine captain, Brendan Taylor, who always makes big runs.

My Best venue

I was moved by few of test venues in England, but I am still in love with Queens Sports club in Bulawayo. Its setting with trees around castle corners is fascinating. That is my really home where I grew up watching my heroes and that is where it all started for me.
