
Crafting of the manifesto and the policy document has reached an advanced stage, as the documents have reached the stage of internal scrutiny by the party’s supreme decision making body.
Chihwayi told The Zimbabwean “The MDC decision making body is fine tuning the documents to avoid delivering half-cooked manifesto and policy documents,”
Aspiring candidates for both parliamentary and local government ward councillorship were given up to end of this week to declare their intentions to stand on MDC ticket in coming elections. The party is taking its time regarding holding of primaries as it wants constituencies to reach consensus on preferred candidates.
Primaries will be conducted in constituencies where two or more candidates will have expressed intention to contest on the party ticket. Where there is consensus on a single candidate, no primary will be held.
Of all the political parties contesting in coming elections, MDC-T is the only one which has unveiled its policy document and successfully held primary elections.
Zanu (PF) says its primary election guidelines are under scrutiny at the politburo and will be unveiled anytime soon. Zapu, Mavambo/Dawn/ Kusile, MDC99, Zanu Ndonga and other political parties are yet to make public their election manifestos.
