After my most recent conversation with some more mature members from that organisation, who include Magugu Khumalo and Prudence Mpofu, I decided to stay away from the MLF, but Magagula has forced me to respond.
His remarks and dismissal of my story in which Fidelis Ncube (General Nandinandi) admitted to being close friends with Army commander Philip Valerio Sibanda, smacks of outright hypocrisy because the interview was done in the presence of four other journalists and MLF top officials, including Magagula himself.
Also, his classification of me as a former “police reservist” also smacks of a man who will never divorce himself from the world of fiction. What Magagula should know is that unlike fiction, where you can mix your wishful thinking, optical illusions and beerhall talk, journalism demands that we write facts as they are.
I have not personally attacked Fidelis Ncube in the manner he claims I did, but that does not mean I don’t know what he is up to. Magagula should also not over-ride the pity I have shown him, which has made me ignore some of the things he has done.
I have never hidden the fact that I am a former policeman in the ZRP and most of the people who claim to know that actually got it from me. If Magagula or anyone within the MLF chooses to write anything about my past, they should clearly state that I was a Sergeant, because that is what I was.
I am done with these useless public spats, from which Magagula seems to gain a lot at the expense of the name I have painstakingly built over the years. For the good of the MLF and Matabeleland as a whole, Magagula should grow up.
The MLF is in such a mess largely because of Magagula’s careless talk and it could be a better organisation with fewer people like him. The sooner the leadership realises that, the better. – Mxolisi Ncube, by e-mail
