Zim gunman hailed

Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Clinton Larsen, recently sang the praises of towering Zimbabwean gunman, Rodrick Mutuma, who he described as “the future” of his club.

Mutuma, who is highly-rated by the Siwelele coach, joined the club during the January transfer period, but stayed on the side-lines due to delays in obtaining his work permit and only played two months for the club.

“Mutuma is what we have been looking for all these years at the helm of the club. Countrywide there is no other player who is composed in the box like him,” said Larsen. “I am happy that next season he will have an opportunity to show people what he is really capable of on the pitch. He is the next big thing in local football. Those who watched him in action in the few games he played since April should have seen the sparks.”

When Mutuma finally got his work permit, Larsen quickly threw him into the deep end. Mutuma was also hopeful of banging in the goals for Phunya Sele Sele next season. The 24-year-old striker signed a three-and-half seasons deal from Dynamos after he had impressed Larsen during a two-week trial in January.

“It’s sad that I only played a few games due to the problems with my work permit, but I am now ready for the new season. I am training hard to achieve that goal,” he said.
