The European Access Network is a new global movement whose mission it is to promote successful participation in higher education for those across the world who are disadvantaged.
The EAN aims to have ‘Student and Youth Ambassadors ‘ in every region of the world, especially developing countries. These ambassadors work in their local regions to create interest and enthusiasm for the work of the EAN World Congress.
Clara Gwatirera is a Zimbabwean-born EAN Ambassador for South Africa. She is passionate about promoting education for the less fortunate and believes that it can address the inequalities of the world. Her values embrace charity, equality and human rights. Gwatirera is also a One Young World Ambassador. One Young World is a global leadership forum for young people. Apart from her role as an ambassador of the EAN, she runs a charity project called Angels Network aimed at empowering orphans. Siyabulela Tembani is the second South African ambassador. He is a Computer Science and Electronics graduate currently employed by Telkom SA. These two young people are expected to organise activities to promote awareness of the aims of the world congress.
Thousands of young people in Africa are failing to gain access to university education due to financial problems. Clara believes Adventist Universities and private institutions should support the mission of the EAN by giving bursaries to deserving underprivileged youths.
The first global meeting of the European Access Network will be held in Montreal Canada from October 7-10 this year. – SAY Ambassador
