The chaos in Gutu came as all sitting MDC-T councillors in Masvingo urban were booted out of office after they were beaten in party primaries.
In Gutu North, Hennerica Takaona, the mother of former Zimbabwe Union of Journalists President, Matthew, is locking horns with Tichaona Mavetera .
The sitting Member of Parliament, Hamandishe Maramwidze, withdrew from the race after failing to be confirmed.
Tempers flared after the contestants could not agree on the composition of the electoral college, resulting in the party supporters exchanging blows.
However when the process was called off some people had already cast their ballots and those supervising the election had to go with the uncounted ballots.
MDC-T Masvingo Provincial Secretary, Tongai Matutu, confirmed the developments.
"There was chaos in Gutu North and the process had to be called off. There were disagreements over the composition of the electoral college," said Matutu.
He added: "Some branches aligned to Mavetera were allowed to vote while those aligned to Takaona were ejected and this resulted in the cancellation of the whole process."
In Masvingo Urban, all sitting councillors failed to make it and lost to new comers. In Ward 3, the election was called off as candidates bickered over the team conducting the primary.
In Chiredzi West, the sitting MP, Moses Mare, lost to Dusty Zivhave, while in Zaka Central, the incumbent, Harrison Mudzuri, lost to James Mushona.
Oliver Chirume, the sitting Gutu Central legislator, was beaten by Kenneth Nhemachena while in Bikita East, Edmore Marima retained his post at confirmation.
