New chairperson for LAM

A General Meeting of Mozambique’s publicly owned airline LAM on Wednesday appointed Carlos Jeque as the new chairperson of the LAM Board of Directors.

Carlos Jeque replaces parliamentary deputy Teodoro Waty, who was forced to stand down after only two year due to the adoption of the Law on Public Probity. It bars all holders of public office from receiving wages or fees from other public institutions or companies.

Jeque was sworn into office in a ceremony presided over by the administrator of the Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE), Odete Tsamba.

Other board members include Marlene Manave, Jeremias Tchamo, Paulo Negrao, Maria da Graca Fumo and Carlos Fumo.

Jorge Macelino, the advisor to Finance Minister Manuel Chang, chairs the Audit Committee, whose members are Helena Cossa and Estevao Uamusse.

In 1994 Carlos Jeque stood as an independent candidate in Mozambique’s presidential elections, and last year he stood for the post of president of the Mozambican Football Federation (losing to Feizal Sidat).
