According to the agreement, the two parties will not field candidates in wards or constituencies where either of them has one. Instead, they will support each other’s candidates.
The agreement would forbid either party from getting into a coalition with other parties.
The development was unveiled at a press briefing attended by MDC leader, Welshman Ncube, party Secretary General, Priscilla Misihairambwi and Zapu leader, Dumiso Dabengwa.
About the presidential candidature, the two parties would make further consultations at party level, before coming up with resolutions in this regard.
“Though we would not want to split the presidential vote, there is need for more consultations at party level before reaching a common position on the presidential aspect of the agreement,” reads part of the statement read to the media.
Recently, Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn leader Simba Makoni, told a press conference in Harare that he was not contesting in the presidential race, since negotiations were underway to form a grand coalition against Zanu (PF) and Mugabe.
Zimbabwe is expected to conduct a general election on July 31.
