Zanu (PF) campaign teams have been moving door-to-door distributing the Zanu (PF) branded flashlights. The Chinese, who are bankrolling the party’s campaign, also donated more than one million T-shirts and other campaign material.
“Zanu (PF) supporters came to my house last week and left a flashlight with Mugabe‘s face on it. They told me the gadget was a gift from Mugabe and Zanu (PF),” said a Nketa resident who preferred not to be named.
Residents who spoke to The Zimbabwean said the flashlights were poor quality and most did not last for longer than a day.
“To be honest with you these gadgets are more like toys than lamps. Zanu (PF) thinks we are children who can easily be swayed by these things,” said another resident.
