Shuwa Mudiwa (MDC-T) and Chris
Mushohwe (Zanu (PF)) both held their campaigns near Mount Dema
secondary school and no reports of violence were reported.
Mushohwe, the former Governor and Resident Minister for Manicaland province, addressed his supporters while MDC-T supporters were going about their business in party regalia at the same business centre.
Posters of party candidates were pasted side by side on walls and trees and none of them were torn or pulled down.
Those interviewed said people had matured politically.
MDC-T aspiring councilor for Ward 28, Moses Zvinoira, confirmed that his area had been peaceful. He said the electorate learnt the hard way during the 2008 presidential run-off that violence does not bring development.
Another MDC-T supporter, Pietros Mandigo from Mukwikwi village, said she was happy that there was peace.
“As women, we are the ones who usually suffer the most during election time but I am happy that we are holding our campaigns alongside our rivals,” she said
