Matambanadzo is also the former Vice President for the Zimbabwe Miners Federation.
“My plan is to make sure that all of our unemployed youths get a decent allowance. I can do that alone. I am into gold mining and if I sell a single kilogramme of the mineral, it earns me $50,000. How can I fail to pay the youths and the aged?” asked Matambanadzo.
He also boasted about sponsoring the payroll of nurses at Kwekwe General Hospital at the height of the 2008 economic meltdown.
“I went to Kwekwe General hospital in 2008 when I had heard that nurses were staying at home because of their poor salaries. I entered into an agreement with them and started paying their salaries. I have the money,” said Matambanadzo.
Commenting on the pledges, MDC-T parliamentary candidate for Kwekwe Central, Blessing Chebundo, said they were reflective of how a few top Zanu (PF) officials had benefited from the city’s vast mineral wealth.
“There are Zanu (PF) officials who have been exploiting small scale miners and that ought to count for something. The economy has been bleeding at a time we are rich in natural resources, so there is a need for a paradigm shit for purposes of nation building,” said Chebundo.
