The decision from the National Executive was enforced by Ward 3 Councillor, Gift July, last Thursday.
There has been dissatisfaction here over the manner in which primary elections to choose candidates for the election were conducted.
The sitting MP, Elias Jembere was confirmed as the party’s candidate for the next elections. This led to a series of demonstrations by activists at the party’s headquarters in Harare.
The dismissed MDC-T activists were rallying behind the candidature of Nobody Makoni for Councillor and Hemson Mapanzure for MP.
Some of the expelled members who blamed the leadership in Epworth for “dictatorial Tendencies”.
Makoni, who was eyeing the position of Councillor for Ward Six, said:
“Some of the people who were supporting my candidature were assaulted and after the primaries, we were ordered to ask for forgiveness but we refused because we are the ones who had been assaulted”.
Another expelled member, Rudia Phiri, who was the Chairwoman for Ward 6, alleged that her expulsion was a result of “the work of jealousy from some of the party members”.
