MISA-Zimbabwe would like to introduce to you its online elections portal Vote Watch 263! (www.votewatch263.org)

MISA-Zimbabwe launched the portal on Friday 20 July 2013 and has a Facebook page with an amazing following , a twitter and You Tube platform in which you will find exciting developments on Zimbabwe’s election

Vote Watch aims at assisting citizen to watch, comment and debate on the current and post electoral processes that will result from the 31 July election in Zimbabwe.

The platform is motivated by the fact that the majority of the Zimbabwean populace is inhibited by law from accessing basic information on critical national processes, which in any democratic society is critical in assisting them make critical and informed decisions. These restrictions include restrictions on the operations of the media in as far as making public officials operate transparently and remain accountable to the electorate and the hindrance of ordinary citizens’ to generate and circulate information and opinions on critical national socio-economic and political events and processes such as the elections.

This platform is a simulation of the Kenyan Ushaidi crowd sourcing platform and allows you to participate in watching and rating your election online and through your mobile on whatsapp and text messaging (SMS) on the number under the following categories; Access to information; Freedom of expression; Journalist/Media attacks; Voting; Post voting issues; reporting others issues such as civil society attacks and citizen attacks.

Vote Watch 263 is also your central election news site which allows you to access official, mainstream and citizen news from around the country.
