This follows their six wicket and 58 run loss in the first two matches at the same venue which gives the world champions a 3-0 win ahead of the two matches at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The remaining two matches are no longer of significance as the Indians have already wrapped up the series.
Whatever happens now, Zimbabwe are still to beat a team with a reputation since their return to Test cricket in 2011 and have only managed to beat Bangladesh, the only other team whose test status are also in question.
India have not lost a game since their ICC Champions Trophy in January success having also won the Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The win against Zimbabwe was India’s fourth in succession.
This is the second time an Indian team has won four series in a row. Between May and August 2007, India beat Bangladesh, Ireland, South Africa, and Scotland.
The last time India was defeated was way back in 2012 when Duncan Fletcher side lost 2-1 to Pakistan in an ODI Series. India’s longest winning streak was between August 2008 and September 2009 when they won six consecutive wins against Sri Lanka, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, the West Indies and the Tri-Series Compaq Cup in Sri Lanka.
Zimbabwe are now waiting for the tour of Pakistan and later Sri Lanka in their journey around the world cricket map. On the other hand, India’s next ODI assignment is against Australia in November in a seven match series.
