Addressing a press conference organized by a consortium of CSOs in Bulawayo today, Jenni Williams said CSOs have received complaints from political parties concerning the extra ballot papers.
“We have received information that separate ballots from the official ballot papers were intercepted at Donnington police station. We wonder what is the purpose and motive of these extra ballots. As CSOs we are really concerned by this development,” said Williams who is the director Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA). Williams said civil organizations were also investigating unconfirmed reports that marked ballots papers were also intercepted at Mbembeswa primary school in Umguza. During the press briefing, the director of Radio Dialogue, Debra Mabunda also announced that the civil organizations have formed a Zimbabwe Situation center in Bulawayo and Harare during the election period.
“Zimbabwe situation rooms will be in Harare and Bulawayo to ensure coverage of the country as widely as possible .The centre will also ensure that issues and incidences to do with elections are dealt with at grassroots level in real time. The situation will be issuing statement and briefs at least twice a day “said Mabunda.
She added that centres will be open to everyone who have information or seek information about the elections.
