53 people vote in an hour

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission presiding officer at the Zengeza 4 shops polling centre in Zengeza East, Idah Sozingu, confirmed that at least 53 people had cast their vote by 8 am. She said the centre was experiencing challenges in terms of lighting.

"We have requested for torches from ZEC because as you can see it is very dark in here," she told The Zimbabwean. However, polling officers at the centre had improvised and set up bulbs that used gas.

A long winding queue could be seen.
