Concern over ZEC pens

Warnings have been circulating that the pens that ZEC is asking voters to use might be fake as the ink will fade after voting.

The reports, however, are unconfirmed as they are being circulated by concerned voters and on social media platforms.

It is a fact, though, that there are pens, particularly supplied by Chinese manufacturers, whose ink disappears after some time.

"Confirmed from our ZEC contact Nikuv supplied ZEC with pens with fake

ink which fades within four hours. These pens will be used in MDC

strongholds and the votes will be considered spoiled," the message

reads in part.

ZEC polling officers are emphasising that voters must only use the pens they find in the polling booths.

Speaking on the sidelines with The Zimbabwean, a registered voter in

Harare, Tichaona Mawere (33) said he brought his own pen to the polling

station today because anything is possible at this point, but was advised to use the ZEC one.

ZEC has been accused of favoring Zanu (PF).
