The impressive judges panel consisted of the founder and Executive Director of Miss Zim-SA; Thamsanqa Ncube; former Studio 263 actress Anne Nhira, popularly known by her character’s name in soapie; . Also sitting in the panel was renowned Zimbabwean film maker Admire Maramba and model and filmmaker Melgin Tafirenyika. The other judges were Zimbabwean UNICEF employee Ms Siphelele Chingono and Zimbabwean SA-based male model
MC for the night was Worldview TV hostess and former Studio 263 actress Yvonne Katsande, better known for her role as Sarah Newton in the popular soapie.
Ms Spiwe Sibiya, the stylish and charismatic Producer of the event said that she was thrilled that the event was continuing to grow in stature, and was now beginning to attract some of Zimbabwe’s big names here in South Africa.
“Our aim has always been to make the event as inclusive of all Zimbabwean here in South Africa, and to see the like of Yvonne Katsande from Studio 263 as well as Myre Maramba, renowned filmmaker and producer of Estate Blues. That shows growth and we can confirm that big things are on the move for this event”, said Sibiya.
Meanwhile, the pageant’s Executive Director, Mr Thamsanqa Ncube announced big changes in the format of the event. As from next year, the event will be hosted in the individual South African cities of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town; with each city producing three semi-finalists, who will then take part in a Grande Finale later in the year.
“We have listened to concerns from Zimbabweans here in South Africa that the vent has not been inclusive of all area in the country; and we hope that by spreading it in this way, the eventual Miss Zim-SA winner will truly be a representative of all Zimbabweans in South Africa”; Ncube added.
The winner of Miss Zim-SA 2013 walked away with R5000.00 in cash, with 1st Princess getting R2500.00 and 2nd Princess getting R1500.00. The girls also got hampers from a host of other sponsors; including goodies from beauty shop Honey; IT vouchers from Smartsys, gym membership from JUST GYM and jewelers pieces from Zimbabwean based Jewelers Fifth Avenue Collection.

I just want to say the contestants didn’t walk away with any cash prize in hand and up to now they are still waiting for the payment. I am responding to this because i am one of the delegates representing Wilma and Charlene. Its so sad that as much as we try to promote Zim talent, some just take it for granted.
