Job creation, greening the environment, peace and social issues are at the centre of his plan. In an exclusive interview with The Zimbabwean, the former deputy local government minister said: “Gweru is an agro-industry constituency. The companies which are in the constituency like Bata, Dairibord and National Foods among others have an agro-business base. So for us to create jobs for the poor we plan to develop small-scale projects like piggery, poultry, dairy farming and basic agriculture through the Gweru Industrial Revival Initiative organisation.

“We also plan to actively lobby for industries to get grants from the international community and government as well so that their production levels can also rise. That way more jobs become available,” he said.

“We have a target of planting 5,000 trees in the constituency. The issue of greening the environment is important to us. Besides changing the face of the city, that initiative will also create jobs because we will have people involved in nursery projects of the plants and the at a later stage other people will come in on landscaping.”

He mourned the problem of moral decadence and the demise of social fabric and said: “Most of the youths involved in prostitution and criminal activities are school dropouts who failed to get funds to complete their studies. We have therefore resolved to come up with a revolving fund that will help students pay fees.” He also has plans for an arts and sport academy to nurture and develop talent among youths, to be funded by donors and the Constituency Development Fund.
