His coach, Wayne Davidson, revealed early this week that the 15-year-old medal hopeful could miss out because his camp was struggling to secure sponsorship for the youngster.
The event is scheduled for East London this weekend. “Sadly, his folks cannot raise the $1 ,000 required to send him. He is the one of the most-dedicated kids that I have ever coached,” said Davidson.
“His recent improvements have been so good that he has a realistic chance of medalling-if we can just find him a sponsor.”
More than 30 triathletes are scheduled to represent Zimbabwe in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 categories at the South African Triathlon Championships.
