Zimbabwe, once considered the most literate country in sub-saharan Africa, with more than 90 percent of its population able to read and write, is obviously no longer so skilled.
Addressing a Zanu (PF) youth conference here recently, Nhema said most young party members were uneducated. “You have to focus on your education first so that you can develop,” said Nhema. “Most of you had their proposals rejected by my ministry and even banks because no one could understand them.”
He also urged young people not to dream of borrowing huge sums of money. “You have to start projects that suit you as the uneducated – such as gardening and handiwork,” he said.
The youth fund administered by his ministry has been inundated with allegations of looting and poor repayment of loans. A report tabled recently before the responsible parliamentary portfolio committee revealed that nepotism was rife – with those closely linked to President Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF) party getting the biggest chunk of the funds.
The fund was established as a revolving fund but non-payment of loans – running at 70% – is the biggest obstacle.

I can’t believe the Minister was able to say such thing as that. If the students are uneducated, well, I can say that he is also an uneducated person. As a minister, he should be the first one to show the desired attitude for the people and do his job to make regulations to require kids to be in school and study. Learn the knowledge, skills and attitude they need to acquire.
