Refuse, refuse

Government these days is quick to label people terrorists. At the risk of being accused of plotting the overthrow of a democratically elected government, what Zimbabweans need to do, for their sake and for the sake of future generations, is to refuse to be distracted.

July 2013 was a year ago, when Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF) promised to create 2,2M jobs. Instead of new jobs, all we see is rusted padlocks on the gates of defunct companies ruined by Mugabe’s administration.

In a whole year, Zanu (PF) has done nothing but try to confuse the people with silliness such as the hunt for Baba Jukwa. The arrest or conviction of Baba Jukwa will not cause job offer letters to materialise in our letterboxes, or food to appear inside people’s bare fridges. Jukwa will not send anyone of us even one humble packet of kapenta.

Casting aside political affiliations, what we as a nation need to do is to tell our government – and to tell them loudly – that neither Jukwa nor his wife matter. Hazvina basa izvo. Akulamsebenzi lokho. – Till next week, my pen is capped – Jerà Twitter feedback @JeraAfrika #HAZVINABASA
