“Western countries do not seem to understand the deteriorating political and economic situation back home, and allege that the European Union is being misinformed by its Ambassador Aldo Dell ‘Ariccia,” said Paul Kazingizi, Chairman of the Birmingham Branch of the MDC in a statement at the weekend.
In February the EU removed the remaining restrictive measures, except on President Mugabe and his wife, claiming that they had done so in order to support the Zimbabwean people to achieve a more prosperous and democratic future.
This was despite the EU being seriously concerned about weaknesses identified in the 2013 election and the lack of transparency identified by the SADC, AU and monitors, which called into doubt the credibility of the election.
They called for verification of the voter’s roll, liberalisation of the media and completion of outstanding reforms, including those related to the security sectors. But so far the Harare regime has not only failed to do even one of the above, but also refused to implement constitutional amendments passed by Parliament, which would protect free and fair elections.
“Last week President Robert Mugabe encouraged seizures of white-owned farms – the same ruinous and racist economic policies that have seen the economy deteriorating to crisis levels. The EU should not try to convince us, the victims of those violations, that something has changed,” he added.

You Kazingisi….are you a Zimbabwean? I don’t thinks so….you like to see Zimbabweans suffer under these illegal sanctions…my advise to is that : stay where you are and stop talking about Zimbabwe you Son-of-a-Gukurahundi……..
What sanctions? Some restrictions on rich fat cats? What a joke.
Kazingizi and his ‘supporters’ have every reason to demonstrate as they would want to continue painting Zimbabwe with a dark brush in order to justify the continued “assylum” that many have in the UK. Justified or not justified there is no point making noise from the diaspora.Africa does not understand that kind of protest! When and where has it ever worked in Africa? Thats why you see strikes that go on for nearly months in RSA for example. Look for bettere stratergies and at best go to Zimbabwe House in London and offer progressive suggestions and partnership with the governmen or at least with private bussinesses if you mistrust the govt.In any case dont take a pary position and manipulate the generality of Zimbos in UK to endorse the MDC position on the EU decision abut our status quo.Do you know why EU has made hat move? Have you analysed the intentions thereof?
