Madzongwe for VP

"As a group of young people concerned with the future of the country we are busy lobbying and pushing everyone across the 10 provinces to support the idea of elevating Madzongwe to the vice presidency," said Eliard Mhangami, the group’s chairperson.

"This is a good move that was taken by those aligned to the Mnangagwa faction to have Madzongwe elevated as she is an experienced cadre who has been key in heading the legislative arm of government. We are calling on everyone to support this move for a better government."

Mhangami also urged Zanu (PF) not to be cowed into elevating the out-going women's league boss, Oppah Muchinguri, whom he termed "incapable and morally unfit".

"We the voters need a capable and a strong character in that position. We have been following with keen interest that some people are pushing for Muchinguri to be elevated to be a VP, but we are against that. Honestly she is not morally fit to be Vice President. She has been constantly been rejected by her own people in Manicaland. She is surviving on her friendship with influential people in the party and first family," added Mhangami.

The group also challenged the president to push for the investigation of corrupt elements with Zanu (PF).

"We demand the immediate investigation of the issuing of land by state land board and councils to Exodus Makumbe, Obadiah Msindo, Charles Nyachowe, Eddies Pfugari, Oppah Muchinguri in Mutare, Oppah Muchinguri in Chinhoyi through Tanya Rushesha, Phillip Chiyangwa, Gift Mabamba, Energy Mutodi and Long Cheng plaza owners.

"We would also like Saviour Kasukuwere to account for his wealth and the mansion he is building, the indigenisation deals, the youth fund and his conduct with young men and women during his term as Minister of Youth. Mr Tizora's involvement with Wicknell Chivayo also needs to be investigated as well as his business dealings and wealth, Susan Jaison also needs to be investigated particularly her dealings with parastatals and government as well as land issues. Phillip Chiyangwa and Jonathan Moyo need to be investigated for their involvement in the diamond scandals where they are believed to be working with unscrupulous army personnel," said Mhangami.
