“I am a happy man. We defended all trophies we won in 2013, as representatives of Gauteng Province,” Moyo said. “We were in pool A with the Free State, the Eastern Cape, North West and Northen Cape. We beat all 4 provinces with 2 – 0. We went on to face KwaZulu Natal which came second in pool B. We beat them by 2 sets to nil. We faced Mpumalanga in finals. Also we beat them by 2 – 0. Our fans should recall that this was the fourth final in a row: 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. In all those finals we lost once in 2012. This is a great achievement and pleasing result.”
Early last month, Moyo’s all three school teams (Troyeville Primary) volleyball under 11 girls, under 11 boys and under 13 boys won Gauteng provincial championship.
In November, Moyo victoriously led his four teams in their fight for a ticket to South Africa’s national volleyball games. His under-13 boys defended the district championship for the sixth time in a row, while under-11 boys, under-11 girls and under-13 girls defended the district title for the fifth time in a row.
His team remains unbeaten in Gauteng since 2009 and only lost once nationally, to KwaZulu-Natal in the national finals in 2012. Again, Moyo recently led his Johannesburg Spikers team to their first promotion to the topflight Gauteng Volleyball Union league.
He was recently promoted to lead the Gauteng Province’s Under-18 provincial team. He is also Gauteng Volleyball Union Development Director and Gauteng Schools Volleyball Development Officer and was recently crowned Coach of the Year in the 2014 Gauteng School Sport Awards.
