The tournament, set for May 9-14 in either Botswana or Malawi, is in preparation for 11th African Games, scheduled for September 4-19 in Brazzaville, Congo. Zone 5 comprises Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi.

Each of the continent’s seven zones will produce two teams that will join the host nation, Congo Brazzaville. Ndlovu, a utility player for Japanese side, Oita Miyoshi Wessie Adler, returns to the squad, following an invitation from Coach Artwell Gororo.

"I am certain that our squad will come out victorious and represent our region at the All Africa Games," said Ndlovu recently. "The team we have assembled oozes talented players who mostly play outside the country. We have an experienced assistant coach in Itsanang Abu-Basutu. The foreign contingent of players like Misheck Mutambirwa, Mthabisi Ndlovu, Panashe, Tawanda Mafuva, Zhawakhinyu and Tatenda Mapigoti will all add depth and experience to the side. Combined with the young talent we have, we have capacity to win this tournament."

Ndlovu, who normally plays as a setter for the squad, last played for Zimbabwe in the 2011 All Africa Games Qualifiers, when he captained the side.

“I missed about four years of national team games, but I always followed the team’s activities, so I am up-to-date with things. I am happy to be back and I will play whatever role the coach will assign me in, with or without the captain's armband,” he said.
