Golden Boot still within reach: Ndoro

Zimbabwe senior national soccer team striker Tendai Ndoro this week expressed his belief that he could still finish the season as the Absa Premiership’s top goal scorer of the season.

It is still possible - Ndoro.
It is still possible – Ndoro.

The Mpumalanga Black Aces striker said this as he seemed to have hit top form just in time as the league campaign draws to a conclusion, thereby defying his slow start to the season.

At seven goals, Ndoro is three goals behind the joint leaders, with compatriot Cuthbert Malajila atop the list, having provided the highest number of assists.

“It is still possible. A hat-trick can suddenly make me level with the other guys,” said the former Chicken Inn striker in an interview. He said he was nonetheless not targeting individual glory, as his side was still involved in a dogfight to avoid relegation.

A lot was expected of the talented marksmen at the beginning of the season, after he finished the 2013/14 season with seven goals, which were ironically three less than the eventual Golden Boot winner. This was despite the Zimbabwean having played only half of the season.

That positive start to his life in the SA league saw him get linked with moves to some big clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, but Aces have shrugged-off their overtures.

Ndoro penned a two-year contract with the Mpumalanga-based side at the beginning of last season, after he had finished the previous season as the top scorer in the Castle Premiership, with 18 goals, after he was loaned back.
