The government of Zimbabwe announced plans to remove VAT on fish products to support the domestic fisheries sector, with the change to be implemented through pending legislative action.

The proposal would repeal the 15.5% VAT on fish and other fish products—excluding kapenta—to improve the competitiveness of local producers and reduce the reliance on cheaper imports.
