This locally led Anticipatory Action Plan (AAP) combines seasonal forecasts and drought indicators with community observations to trigger timely, pre-agreed actions addressing food insecurity, livestock losses, water shortages and loss of income. Developed with communities, district authorities and other stakeholders, the AAP includes agricultural and food assistance, livestock support, income-generating activities and improved access to water.
Using the WFP “Ready-Set-Go” drought monitoring system, the mechanism enables district-specific activation of the AAP and the release of pre-agreed finance from the WAHAFA Fuel funding.
