Z$60,000 for a scud

HARARE - Hardly a month after an increase, the price of local brew has shot up by another 40% - putting it beyond the reach of most Zimbabweans. The price of pint of Castle or Lion Lager or Carling Black Label has increased from Z$35,000 to Z$50,000 while Zambezi and Bohlingers have gone up from Z$5

0,000 to Z$70,000. The quart bottles have gone up from Z$65,000 to Z$90,000 while the price of opaque bear, generally know as scud, has increased from Z$40,000 to Z$60,000 per litre. Zimbabweans are reeling from massive price increases to all basic commodities during the past few weeks, fuelled by rampant inflation and general economic collapse.
