Mahoso mum on Malaba

BULAWAYO - The Media and Information Commission (MIC) has remained mum over a story published in the government-owned Sunday News last week, which has turned out to be false.

But MIC chairman, Taf

ataona Mahoso, who is normally very quick to castigate editors of the independent media when they make mistakes, has remained silent. However, the permanent secretary for Information has ordered the editor, Brezhnev Malaba, to submit a written report explaining himself. The story alleged that four top-ranking officials in the ministry of higher education had been suspended for corruption.

The chief executive officer of Zimbabwe Newspapers, the paper’s parent company, Justin Mutasa has also kept quiet. – Own correspondent
