For the price of a latte &.

When Galime drew this picture she was wishing a "happier life" for her new friends in Africa - the young orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe. The millions of children in sub-Saharan Africa who have lost their parents to AIDS,
are constantly on my mind in one form or another. I se

e their faces, mostly happy but sometimes sad. I hear their voices, mostly loud but sometimes soft, uncertain, afraid. These vulnerable children, despite all they have gone through are a beacon of courage and fortitude. They have to be. In Zimbabwe recently, a new currency note went into circulation. It is the “one hundred thousand dollar note.” Yes, ZW$100,000! The country has an inflation rate of over 1000%, the highest in the world. Just to show you how bad it is, Iraq has the second highest inflation rate of 64%. In practice this is something very hard to imagine unless you’re part of the population facing such a desperate situation and you’re living from one day to the next not even being able to afford basic commodities such as a loaf of bread. As we embark on a new month, let us be thankful that we are in a position to effect change. Let us be the ones to empower the children with the most vital of tools – an education. It’s simple. It’s summer and it’s hot, so you don’t need three coffees a day!
For the price of five lattes, you could send one of these children to school for a semester. Don’t drink coffee? Let’s see… for the price of 2 glasses of Merlot… A Wall for Social Consciousness: www.eppardvision.org/awfsc
A photographic exhibit to raise awareness about AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe. No matter how geography divides us, we are all inextricably linked – linked by our common desire for peace and happiness. We cannot and should not wait for governments and politicians to make decisions. We as individuals, can make a difference. Eppard Vision is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in Washington State, U.S.A.We are dedicated to improving the lives of children.
